I have been coaching Gymnastics since March of 2010. While I have had other jobs in that time, I consider my coaching to be my most valuable professional experience. An anonymous quote I have always loved is, "A job is something you do for money, but work is what you do because its what you love." I feel like this quote exemplifies my experience working with kids. Coaching and educating young people is my work, and I cannot imagine doing anything else with my life. In addition to my work as a coach, I had the opportunity to participate in a massive research project over the summer and fall of 2017. This project was a collaboration by myself and other history students at the University to research and publish letters from WWI all across the state of North Dakota. This was my first experience working on a collaborative research project of this scale. This experience was an amazing reminder that when studying or teaching history your best resources can be other people in the community. Throughout the project we worked not only with each other, but also with employees of the North Dakota Heritage Center. As a professional, particularly in the field of teaching, it is vital to remember and draw on the human resources available in the community.
