My name is Jensen Roseboom and I am currently attending the University of Mary seeking degrees in Social Studies Education and History. I moved to Bismarck from Missoula, Montana in order to attend the University and participate as a member of the Track and Field Team. Many of my hobbies revolve around my passion for the outdoors and my active lifestyle. My family has played a major role in making me who I am today, and in particular my sister and mother have had the biggest impact. They have helped foster my love for learning, particularly in the areas of politics and history, my entire life.
While attending the University of Mary I have worked as a gymnastics coach. My work as a coach is what inspired me to seek my degree in education. The most rewarding part of my job has been having the opportunity to watch the athletes I have worked with grow as people and athletes over the past four years. I am excited for the opportunity to extend my work beyond athletics and into the classroom to help students become the best that they can be.
In addition to my academic experience at University of Mary, my athletic experience was instrumental in developing me into the person I am today. Through my participation on the track team I gained many skills that will carry over into my professional life. These include, but are not limited to, dedication, work ethic, and patience. As a pole vaulter, things did not always go well in training or meets, however I learned to trust in the process my coach had developed and keep pushing towards my goals. Education, just like athletics, is a process. My experience as an athlete taught me that as an educator I have to keep the end goal in mind and be willing to adjust to the adversity that myself and my students will inevitably face.
